Oh I can't wait for April card class!

I'll tell you ladies, I am so excited for card class this month. The pictures just don't do these cards justice. You'll receive oohs and ahs from whomever you decide to give these too.

Exciting...

I am so excited to share that I won my first Close To My Heart Contest. This is the first time I have sent in for one of their monthly contests and I wasn't even sure I was happy with the card. So, imagine my surprise when they posted the contest winners and I was in the top three! What a boost! As if placing in the contest wasn't enough, you also get some nifty product credit (and with a new catalog coming out soon, who couldn't use that).

When I originally posted this card, I was asked how I achieved the "halo" affect. This is a super easy way to add some fun dimension to a project. I used a flower bigger than the one I planned to use on the front and then laid my cardstock over it and sanded the cs (with the flower beneath). Super fun! I'd love to have you try it out and then post a link to your creation for us to all ooh and ahh over.

I'm going MAC baby!

Okay - this may be super silly that I am beyond excited...but I feel like a kid at Christmas. Tonight, I ordered a MAC. Bye, bye PC. Back when I started at Bellevue Community College for Web Design in 2000, I had really wanted a good 'ol Mac, but they were far too expensive. So, even though the basis of what I use my computer for is artsy (photography, videos, etc.), I have stuck with the cheaper PC. Lately, I have been running into problems galore while trying to push my pc creatively. It has really made me come to dread having to get things done that take a lot of processing power like video tutorials. Watch out though, I can't wait to try out iMovie ;) I think while I wait for the good guys at Apple to put my new 'puter together, I'll plan some new tutorials!

Ooh, I almost forgot to mention. If getting a Mac wasn't cool enough, I am getting the newest versions of Adobe's Creative Suite (photoshop, flash, illustrator, dreamweaver, etc). Thank goodness for good student discounts!
