Fingers Crossed...

The power guy came today and brightened my week. Literally, he restored power after making us jump through hoops for close to a week. Living on extension chords and power from our neighbor has made life quite the experience. With enough power to keep our fridge running, the tv for the kiddo and a light or two it has been tough to get much done.

If you have emailed me or called me during this outage and you have not heard from me (and need me right away), please call me at home at 425.413.4280. My email is crazy full and I don't have high hopes of being able to get through all of it before I leave for Convention.

Speaking of Convention, say a prayer for me. I have a lot of artwork preparation still to complete in a short time (made even shorter by having kiddos). Having power will speed the process **I hope**. This is also the first time I am leaving Blake, who is exclusively nursed. I am lucky to have a fantastic hubby, it just always makes me jittery to leave the family behind.

Thank you for all of your support!

Phone and Internet: Back Up!

Wow, demolition is so much fun (well, not exactly...it is a ton of work). During the destruction of the flooring of the home our phone lines were cut. I was so tired the night that it happened that I could barely contain my tears when I was told. I may not have much time to respond or post much yet, but having my internet makes me feel like some aspects of life are still normal :)

Gotta get the kids entertained and then I hope to catch up on emails, possibly get some more pictures up and then I HAVE to get back to work on the projects for Convention seeing as it is just 21 days away!

Down comes the house...

Ok, I have a ton of other pictures to show you, but this video is cool and I want to share it right away. The house is no more than a roof and a floor now. Pulling it down was bittersweet. We walked through it one last time, captured a couple of pictures. Now the boys are working on pulling off the roof and getting as much in the dumpster as possible. After uploading this video, I am going to go start lunch.

Pictures as promised

The last couple of days have felt like weeks, but we have accomplished so much more than I would have imagined. Brian and I are so lucky to have some strong friends (thank you Andrew, Russ) and family (thank you Dad, Jereme and Dave) who have helped.

On Weds. I left to go pick up lunch and was floored when I came back (I wasn't gone too long), the siding was gone on the side I could see from the road and many of the interior walls were gone. We ended up calling it a night around 6:30 because the skies opened up on us with the most impressive thunder and lighting storms I have ever experienced in Washington. Go figure, sunny and hot with no rain until we start pulling down the house. Even though it was earlier than we intended on stopping, the guys were able to have the house 20-25% down.

Yesterday, they removed the porch awning and the metal roofing and much of the remaining siding. I took the boys to the store to get charcoal so we could have a BBQ and some other items we needed. We also picked up our revised building permit with NO "Fire Sprinklers Required" stamped on it. We had to submit a revision to have our driveway increased to 20ft wide to get that requirement removed. Yes, I did say 20ft wide...crazy uh. We knew we'd be able to meet the minimums so that we wouldn't have to install fire sprinklers in our house (they are expensive and have the potential to leak), but we were concerned because the lender wanted a copy of our building permit. We had not figured the sprinklers into our budget and knew that if she saw the original permit she'd have a heart attack (based on the fact that she has been a bit of a pain to deal with all along - so concerned about EVERYTHING). Thank God the new permit was ready for me yesterday, so I could give her the clean copy. ;)

I have a lot more pictures and some video to share, but I need to go wrangle the kiddos. So, back to work I go :)

And the adventure begins...

What a journey it has been to get to this day! Today we signed the papers for our construction loan. At times it felt like we would never actually build our home and now we are here. This afternoon we moved the rest of our belongings into our free standing garage. The boys are tucked in for the night (on the other side of the curtain). It is going to be an adjustment to be right on top of eachother and to have to have things extremely quiet once the boys are down, at least for awhile. I hope to eventually work them into having a set of lights on so that I can work on my scrapbooking (I am going to have a lot to scrapbook).

I have to share Conner's highlight of the day...our Porta Potty was delivered. He was estatic that it was ours and we'd get to keep it during construction! I'd have to admit that I was rather excited and silly about the whole thing...and yes, I did take pictures during the delivery. Luckily the delivery man was a character, otherwise he would have really thought I was NUTS taking pictures. My excitement is not really for the Porta Potty, but what it represents...soon we will break ground and men will be working on my dream home! But before I end for the night, I have to share some of the conversations I had with Conner today...

Right after it was delivered...
Conner: "Oooh, I have to go potty."
Conner: "What is this!!" (a urinal in the corner) "I'm not tall enough to pee in that."
Mommy: "Well, we can get a stool." (he was all over that)
Conner: "Oooh, I have to go poopie...Mommy why is there water in it..."
he goes potty, hops off and with joy says "Look MOMMY potty in there..."
(by the way, I think he would have stayed in there for longer than the 10 minutes I had to endure standing there while he was ooing and awing over it, had I not told him that I had enough - I hate outhouses)

On our way to the bank...
Conner: "Mommy I have to go potty."
Mommy: "I am sure the bank has a potty honey."
Conner: "No, I don't want to use the bank potty...I want to use my PORTA POTTY!"

With that, I am going to call it a night. Tomorrow we start demolition of the mobile home!
