Digital Scrapbooking - Photo Book

To cheer me up after having to decide not to participate in the fair because of the boys being so sick, I decided to create a free photo book at Snapfish (Oprah's special). Of course, you know things are never free, lol. I had to purchase a couple of really cute scrapbooking kits from The Shabby Shoppe to create a one of a kind, uber cute photo book. At the final minute last night I finished the book, phew...and now I can't wait to share the finished project. :)

Couple of notes:
The picture of Blakes feet are on the first page of the book (smaller photo) with the caption, "Enjoy the little things in life...for one day you will look back and realize they were the BIG things."

The back of the book has a smaller picture of his feet with "Create with love by Christine David - 2008" under it.

Hassle Free Holiday Bazaar

This weekend I was supposed to be a vendor at the Renton Hassle Free Holiday Bazaar. However, since both boys are beyond sick, I had to evaluate my role as a Momma and decide that they need me. Don't you love it with both of your kids are sick at the same time. My mom says she nevers remembers my sisters both being sick at the same time. Or am I the only lucky one that seems to happen to?

Even though I won't be able to be there, please be sure to stop and support the vendors. I'll hopefully get my items up for you to see and maybe even purchase.

Thank you...

These a few flowers I made for Billie Jo - I had promised her that I would not send her flowers that died. However, I longed to send her flowers, so wooden flowers ensured I kept my promise. I coated them heavily with laquer so they can be placed at Taylor's headstone.

She received these along with all of the cards sent by my super sweet readers. She wanted me to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers. I'd like to ask that you continue to keep her in your prayers as life moves forward and people seem to forget the pain she has experienced in losing her child.

On another note, I'd like to share that Billie received a wonderful gift from Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (before you head to the website, please grab tissue). This is an amazing organization of giving photographers who come in the final hours (or the only moments a family has with their child) and gives the families the gift of precious memories captured in photos. I am unbelievably thankful that Billie will have these beautiful photos to remember sweet & perfect Taylor. Thank you to the nilmdts photographer!

Another tree bites the dust...

This tree finally had to go. It wasn't a bad looking tree, just sitting in the wrong place. From our driveway it blocked our view to the front door and just seemed out of place. Good 'ol Phil Wills (our excavator extrodinare) took it out with no effort. Turns out we were lucky that we decided to remove it as it was rotten on the inside and it would have just been a matter of time before it came down.

Blake is officially walking (running)

Can you believe I painted my scraproom nearly orange?! Before selecting a color for my most important room (shhh, Brian already teases me that we built the house just for my scraproom), I decided to do some color theory research. I love yellow, however based on color theory it isn't the best color to paint a room. Orange was a great option and is said to evoke feelings of action, warm, happiness, etc. So, here is a little glimpse of what my room looks like.

Delivery of the Sheetrock

There is the misnomer that when you purchase or build a new house, you'll actually have a clean house. Hmmm, not so much. This is how they delivered my sheetrock. Can you guess what my window sills were full of? You may wonder why they didn't go through the door. The funny thing is that I can't remember now, I think it was because it was easier this way.

Update on the House

I have been really quiet lately because of the progress on the house. Things are moving so quickly now that my head is spinning. We are just weeks away from being able to move in. This last week we finish up the last of our painting and I love the colors we have selected. The hard floors are in (hardwood in majority of the house and vinyl in the bathrooms). Cabinets are in and done. Counters are in the bathrooms and utility room. Concrete slabs (patio, walk ways and porches) are done and beautiful. The septic is in and sign off on, we just have to wait for the official paperwork which could take a couple of weeks. They are working on painting the millwork and trim this week. In the next couple of weeks we are looking at some of the finishing touches like the kitchen countertop, finish plumbing, carpet, door handles...all the little details.
We are almost there!

I'll post pictures very soon I promise. The garage is rather cold, so tonight I am going to go crawl under my heating blanket and read a book.

Come a long ways baby!

From time to time, I have someone say that they wish their art could look as good as mine. Of course, I say that all the time about those that I look up to. But everytime I hear a comment like that I try to assure them that I had to learn along the way. I don't think they often believe me, so I am offering up proof. These cards are a few that I found while moving out of the mobile home. I made them at my very first CTMH card class back in 1999.

Now fast forward to just a week or so ago when I finally created a card that I am super proud of. It is all my creation, no looking to someone else for inspiration. My dear customer Amy (whom I adore) was given a gift of her choice of scrap supplies by her momma. So, I had to go all out on this special card for her...you know how it is when you know you art will be appreciated. ;)
