Cheesy things that happen when Mom is distracted...

While I was busy finishing up my last blog posting, Blake discovered some melted cheese that Conner had not finished. He was enjoying cleaning the bowl. Thank goodness that I had something down over the couch or I'd have one cheesy couch.

*Notice the mark under his left eye. This kid is constantly hurting himself. He is trying to start walking and has no fear. This particular owie happened while playing with his brother. He was trying to get Conner who was hiding on his bed, Blake lost his footing and tip over onto the corner of the bed. Go figure, it was the only area that could hurt him since he was surrounded by the blankets and pillows his big bro put on the floor.

It's all about the hair...

Lately, I have been feeling pretty frumpy. So, today I treated myself to a new hair cut with some style. This isn't the best picture, but I haven't mastered the art of taking my own pictures quite yet. The style is a little hard to see here, but it has a lot of body and looks "sassy."

And how could I post my picture and not share a new picture of Blake. When he was born he had an unbelievable amount of hair. But as all babies, most of it has rubbed off...that is except for this bright red mohawk. Hmmm, I might have to style it like this more often. :)

You may ask me why...

I would feel the need to post this video. It is really quite simple my friends (slightly demented) dared me to post it and have been looking forward to it. So here it is, my darling son demonstrates that he has adult intestines!

Milestone - Rolling Over

Blake rolled over yesterday! I am both excited and filled with anticipation. I can hardly imagine having two boys running around the house. Conner doesn't believe us that Blake is going to be chasing him around in no time! Hopefully, he doesn't start as early as Conner.
Before you say anything about me catching the first roll on "film," let me admit that this is the second roll. I unbelievably missed the very first roll. I had just ran to the door to let Conner in from playing outside with Daddy and returned to Blake on his belly. He was quite mad at me when I rolled him back onto his back. I just had to see him do it again.

Completion

Having once decided to achieve a certain task, achieve it at all costs of tedium and distaste. The gain in self-confidence of having accomplished a tiresome labor is immense. – Thomas A. Bennett
Long before I had Blake I had created my template of what his birth announcement would be and thought that I would be able to quickly create them after his birth. Originally, I had thought I would only need 25 or so. I now wonder, what was I thinking... I ended up sending out nearly 90 of them. Many times, I almost gave up, but I hated that I had put work into something and was not completing it. That is when I found this quote and I'll tell you what, I am so thrilled that this weekend I completed my task! (I cheated just a bit and create a photo image of the handcrafted design to send to many.)

Quick Updates - Blake & Building Permit

This morning Blake found his thumb! I had to wake Brian up so he could see our cute little guy sucking away. Conner was never interested in his thumb, so this is something new for us. He even put himself to sleep sucking on it. Ah...maybe I'll get a few more breaks here and there.

On Friday we went in for our building permit submittal apt. and things went really well. She took our packet of paper that was about an 1" tall and keep commenting that we must have done this before. My attention to detail and following directions paid off! We have one bit that we need to adjust...can you believe that unless we have a 20' (yes, 20 foot) driveway we need sprinklers in the home. Sprinklers would break the bank and make it so that we couldn't accomplish our goal. Tomorrow we'll be talking to our septic guy (which we love) and making sure that it won't mess up the septic plan, we sure don't think it will. After that I'll make a few changes to the site plan and resubmitting it and we are well on our way without issues (at least that we know of now). Good news (and scary at the same time), we were told that it would be 12 - 16 weeks and she made it sound like it could easily be on the short end of that. Yeah! One more step down, now onto all the prep work we have to do here before we receive our building permits!

Finally, some scrapping is happening!

I just couldn't wait to share. I just got my first layout completed since the birth of Blake. He now officially has the beginning of his very own scrapbook. These are the pictures we took just before leaving the hospital. Even then he looked pretty yellow!

Giggles - Oh My!

I have just been reminded why I thought things changed at 4 months for Conner. The first several months of having a baby seems so rough at times and I just kept reminding myself that Conner used up all his "bad" by 4 months. Well, on Sunday, Blake GIGGLED! Now I know that it has nothing to do with them being any less needy. Things change so much because all of a sudden they begin to interact, smiling, cooing, giggling...making you feel like the best person in the world!

Isn't it amazing what a little praise can do? It can make even the most mundane chores easier. I think I may just need to take a cue from my darling infant and do my best to better praise all those around me.

Something a little different...

Shortly after my craft fair this year, I thought I'd try out an idea. Stamped baby onsies using our CTMH stamps. There is definately a learning curve and I am going to keep playing with all of my old onsies until I get it just right. We have such a selection of adorable stamps and I just know that these have a potential to be a big hit.
